EDI Software Package Reviews

Our Mission
This web portal is created to enable someone seeking to implement EDI capable of comparing the different offerings on the market. Most EDI vendors are very restrictive with information, unless it pertains to the generalities offered on their websites or unless it’s related to your particular purchase. This makes it difficult to compare offerings, even if you have two competing proposals from vendors on the table to evaluate.
Knowing something about the vendor company, of the product capabilities, support organization (very important with EDI) and other issues, will make it easier to create an informed decision. We have, all too often, seen misguided investments in EDI wholly on the EDI vendor’s premises. This often results in spending too much money for the software, too much on consulting services and implementation and far to often on having to pay recurring revenues that end up being very expensive over time.
Of course each vendor wants you to know only the best they can do. However, avoiding mistakes is central to being able to do a good job. To do a good job, it’s necessary to have “inside” information on what a product does and how it works. We have focused on the practical aspects of software selection, and will also provide practical tips on the vendor’s support organization, professional services organization and much more.
In developing these guides, we will cover all vendors doing EDI, from large to small and whether they are focused on specific industries, their software delivery method (on-premise software or SaaS), whether they do integration, etc. Our initial reviews are superficial, but as time moves along, they will become increasingly in-depth. We wanted to provide you with as broad a basis as possible to make decisions and have therefore included quite a few vendors.
We hope this tool will be a help to you in your pursuit of supply chain efficiency or complying to a mandate by an important trading partner.

Our Team

About Team
We are a team of dedicated professionals with experience in the EDI market. We have looked at, and worked with, most of the software solutions in the market and know the positive, and the dirt, on all of them. We have worked as EDI programmers, EDI managers, project managers, performed large on-boarding projects, outsourcing projects, software selections, and much more.
John Kierny – started his career with General Motor’s supply chain and vendor relations group. He has had various managerial and executive positions in the manufacturing and retail industries, last at Wal-Mart where he oversaw technical support for vendors.
Sesheila Jones – spent 16 years in General Electric Information Services (GEIS, now GXS), starting as a technical support technician. After a few years of technical support and having been promoted first to Supervisor and then Manager, Sheila was promoted into the project management organization to assist with the planning and execution of EDI on-boarding by GEIS customers. She left the company in 2007 and has been working as a consultant to various businesses regarding EDI and supply chain issues since then.
Carmen Mendez – has worked extensively as an EDI consultant, selecting and implementing software for clients, mostly small and medium sized businesses delivering products to retail chains.
Blake Adams – with a deep technical background in networking and customer support, Blake has worked with solving practical customer problems in relation to communication and networking. This is, by the way, a major issue to be considered in choosing vendor.
Leila Biskintaoui – has worked in EDI administration as a user. She has developed deep knowledge of various EDI software packages and their user interfaces and functionality. |
